Dr Eben

Conceptual Illustration

As a neurosurgeon, Dr. Eben Alexander did not believe in the phenomenon of near-death experiences. He grew up in a scientific world, the son of a neurosurgeon. He followed his father’s path and became an academic neurosurgeon, teaching at Harvard Medical School and other universities. While in ameningitis-induced coma in 2008 proves that consciousness is independent of the brain, that death is an illusion, and that an eternity of perfect splendor awaits us beyond the grave — complete with angels, clouds, and departed relatives, but also including butterflies and beautiful girls in peasant dress.

The entire plot takes place in a wink of his brain surgery. The Pink clouds are replaced with a brain characteristic landscape and the glistening light of heaven is the operation lamp in which the silhouettes of the surgeons move instead of Angels. The picture style is inspired by surrealism, as also in the plot surreal location and object changes take place.
